Biography
My name is Gary Lavan.
I work as an applied psychologist in the UK, and am currently studying for my Doctorate in Educational, Child, and Community Psychology.
This site has been developed to provide a useful starting point for people searching for information about the work of psychologists, or maybe after help with conquering some of the challenges that life throws at us from time to time.
My professional work involves supporting children and families with all aspects of their lives where they are encountering difficulties. I have specific interests in Autism, and learning delays, and use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and many other theories and approaches in my work - all of which I talk about in this site. Some of the information in this site looks at what I call 'Popular Psychology' - the stuff that affects everbody, and some of it looks at 'Professional Psychology' - the stuff that's useful for those of us who work in applied psychology fields.
